Mexico Cenote Elopement
Many people call me asking if I can plan their wedding in a few months. A few months to a wedding planner is a cake walk, but personally, the exhilarating fun begins when we only have a couple hours or days.
I received a call on a Sunday night from Natasha and Harry who lived in Devon, Great Britain. They had just spent the weekend looking at venue sites for their wedding reception and were overwhelmed with the expenses to host a large wedding. As they reviewed their options, they quickly realized it was more important to them to be married to each other, instead of spending several months planning a wedding. As they were going to Mexico on vacation in 36 hours, they decided to elope.
They immediately googled wedding planners in Playa del Carmen, and I was blessed they found My Playa Wedding. They said they chose My Playa Wedding based on the “fantastic reviews” and quickly contacted us. Throughout our video call, Natasha said she did not have a dress, but had a strong vision for one. I casually asked her, if she could postpone her work on Monday to look for a wedding dress in her hometown, in hopes to avoid stress looking for a wedding dress in a foreign country with language barriers. She quickly cancelled her work appointments, purchased a dress and on her drive home, sent me photos and drawings via whats app divulging her wedding dress inspiration.
I immediately called my dress designer in Cancun and arranged for the two to meet as soon as she landed from her transatlantic flight on Tuesday evening. After their meeting, the couple spent a couple days in Isla Mujeres, a small island off the coast of the Yucatan, where they purchased matching wedding rings . Upon their return from the island, she picked up her dress from the designer and her dream dress was perfected. The wedding dress was stunning with an alluring plunge neckline and romantic, flowing white fabrics with a dramatic slit up one leg. A million thanks to Lizabeth, who made her wedding dress vision come true.
Harry & Natasha jumped in their rental car and drove south thru the Yucatan peninsula to the jungle resort of Tulum, where they spent a couple more relaxing days before their wedding day. They had their wedding rings, a custom made dress and were awaiting the day they would step into a magical setting to celebrate their new life together.
The couple had known each other for three years through their children’s school before they started dating. Natasha had caught Harry staring at her, and a couple years later they had their first date during a walk thru the woods. They revealed, from this first time they were alone, they immediately knew they would never be with anyone else. Harry later planned a romantic proposal with a string of love letters leading her to the tree they spent their first special moment. Surrounded by fairytale lights, flowers and a picnic basket, Harry, knelt on one knee and asked Natasha to marry him.
On the morning of their wedding, our private driver drove the couple thru the jungle to our private cenote where our team welcomed them. As they embarked on their adventure thru the jungle, they could feel the lush, tropical forest embracing them for their new life together.
We helped our Bride get ready in the romantic mesh netted changing room and escorted her to the cenote. She was welcomed by jungle themed musicians playing drums, flutes and conch shells as she descended down the wooden stairs to meet her new husband. The couple exchanged their own vows thru a custom designed ceremony and after they tied the knot, held hands and jumped into the mystical cenote. Our photographers said they continued photographing the couple beyond their contracted time as they could feel so much love between the beautiful couple and wanted to capture every moment.
The final moments of their elopement were welcomed with the incredible sun rays beaming thru the lush palm trees as they held hands dreaming of their new life together. Their advice to future couples, “go with your heart, when you know, you know instantly and do not waste any time. Life is too short pleasing other people, just do what is right for you.” The couple will honeymoon by motorcycle thru Thailand and we wish the best in their new adventures together.
